Job Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of a company's reports and statements. They will prepare and review financial documents, reports, and statements. They oversee all accounting procedures (e.g. tax returns, month-end closures, budgeting) and advise on general financial matters. This position reports to the Director of Finance.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aid in implementation, maintenance, and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Review and gather financial data to be reported in a clear and understandable manner

  • Assist in budget preparation, payment schedules, and monthly bank reconciliation

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Support the management of accounting operations including but not limited to the general ledger, transactional accounting/accruals, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and weekly cash flows

  • Job costing and WIP analysis and reconciliation

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Other activities as directed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required, and a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, quantitative, and social skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to read and analyze financial data/reports

Credentials and Experience

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics (preferred)

  • At least two years' experience in accounting or a related field (preferred)

  • Must be a US citizen
