Position Description

Are you an experienced Installation Specialist with Supervisory skills looking for a new opportunity? If so, Serco is looking for a Shipboard Supervisor to join a high-profile and challenging project supporting US Navy installation work in Newport News, VA. The ideal candidate will be on a dynamic team, supporting our C5ISR and IC Voice system installations. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact toward our military defense and safety of our Sailors.

You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.

As the Shipboard Supervisor, you will manage a team of installers who are responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing structures and major components on US Navy Ships.You will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing the installation of products. You will ensure adherence to contract specifications and established policies and procedures while applying appropriate safety techniques of the work performed onboard ships.

You will play a critical role in ensuring that successful and safe work is performed onboard our United States Navy Ships which is vital to our Mission to Protect and Serve our Military.

In the Shipyard Supervisor role, you will:

  • Be responsible for managing fabrication and assembly of various electromechanical and electronic assemblies within you team

  • Supervise the team to make sure they are following blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to completed and successful tasks within in deadlines.

  • Provide technical guidance to the team and review the work for compliance within accepted practices.

  • Work as the general supervision that all safety guidelines are followed

  • Rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals for the installation team.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

  • Be able successfully undergo a Background Investigation, Drug Screen, and obtain access to HII shipyard, NAVSTA & DBIDS.

  • A High School Diploma or GED.

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience

  • Be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. Attention to safety is critical.

  • Be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.

  • Willing to work second shifts as needed and more than 40 hours work weeks.

  • Be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
