YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to be based out of Newcastle office who can:

  • Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs;

  • Acting as Project Manager on a wide range of projects whilst helping to grow and develop our work with clients;

  • Acting as a Line Manager for people in Liveable Places;

  • Significant highway and traffic engineering experience with an understanding of traffic signals design and modelling;

  • Preparing and reviewing reports, drawings, schedules and other documents in accordance with local procedures and guidance;

  • Being responsible for the financial performance of projects;

  • Undertaking technical review and checking of design deliverables within the team;

  • Work collaboratively with the Liveable Places team and our colleagues in the wider Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • A civil engineering degree or equivalent;

  • Membership of a relevant professional body;

  • Obtained or working towards Chartered Engineer Professional status;

  • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals;

  • Transport, traffic signals, road safety AND highway engineering experience;

  • The ability to prioritise, to achieve deadlines and to work with minimal supervision;

  • Good spoken and written communication skills. With the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues.

We deliver a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, traffic engineering, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian / traffic modelling, active travel, and parking. We have had recent key successes with Westminster City Council, West Sussex County Council, East Sussex County Council, Leeds City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, Richmond Council, Croydon Council, Redbridge Council, West of England Combined Authorities and many, many more.

The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country with over 200 staff, currently making up the team with further growth planned.
