Position Summary:

This position is for teachers (20 teaching positions) to work with high achieving students in enrichment math, science, and engineering pre-college programs during the summer. Teacher / Instructor provides inquiry-based, product-oriented instruction for the students that will enhance students' knowledge, understanding and application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) content/concepts, study skills, thinking skills, problem solving strategies and communication skills.

We are now accepting applications for the following position: -Lead Teacher - Science / Engineering -Communications Teacher - Middle & High School -Mathematics Teacher - Middle & High School -Computer Teachers-Middle & High School.

Essential Functions:

  • Works collaboratively with appropriate program staff on the content of the instructional program and related activities.

  • Provides a teaching plan or class outline, with handouts, for assigned classes that adhere to the guiding principles of the Early College Preparatory Programs.

  • Works closely, cooperatively and amicably with other staff members.

  • Reports problems and seek advice from the Program Directors when needed.

  • Stimulates students' interest in individual and group activities.

  • Provides a safe learning environment to motivate youth.

  • Notifies the Program Directors if he/she must be absent or late for duty for any reason.

Additional Functions:

  • Weekly Meetings after school.

  • All lead teachers are required to attend the parent/student orientation.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • Teacher Certification.

  • Background Check.

  • Must be a certified elementary, middle or high school teacher (minimum of five years of teaching) in the content area assigned and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Possesses good leadership abilities and communication skills.

  • Experienced in hands-on activities and cooperative learning and teaching.

  • Familiar with various assessment techniques including student portfolios and rubrics.

  • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be waived where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
