Job Description:

Summary:

We are currently looking for a Senior Director, EEO/AA, Compliance and Training to join our team!

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Chief, Office of EEO/AA to develop agency-wide policies and practices to ensure compliance with state and federal EEO laws and regulations.

  • Acts as a delegate for Chief, Office of EEO/AA as assigned.

  • Develops, amends, and communicates agency wide EEO policies. Partners with leadership to review and amend EEO policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Provides appropriate assignment, instruction, and direction to professional staff; oversees the training of all employees and recommends such training as appropriate to ensure compliance with federal and state Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action laws, regulations, and guidelines.

  • Assists the Chief of EEO/AA with preparing the department’s annual budget request and explanation for submission.

  • Directs the preparation of the EEO/Affirmative Action Plan for submission to state and federal agencies, including analyzing goals to measure the organization’s effectiveness in areas of EEO compliance and develops recommendations.

  • Ensures sub-recipients and contractors receiving federal funds through NJ TRANSIT comply with federal EEO Program requirements.

  • Provides technical guidance to Human Resources (and other departments, as applicable) concerning all employment practices, including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, promotion, discipline, termination, compensation, and training. Serves as the Chief of EEO/AA’s primary delegate for concurrence on all hires and promotions.

  • Directs the scheduling of the Office of EEO/AA staff participation in conferences and training programs designed to improve the policies and programs.

  • Assists the Senior Director, EEO/AA, Investigations, with the investigation process for all internal, state and federal complaints of discrimination by NJ TRANSIT employees, contractors, and applicants for employment.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

This Position Supervises:

  • EEO/AA Officers

  • EEO/AA Coordinator

Education, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Labor Relations or related area from a US Department of Education accredited college or university, and ten (10) years of applied experience in EEO/AA programs including, but not limited to the preparation of EEO/Affirmative Action Plans, training of employees, analysis of EEO data and compliance with federal programs, with familiarity with or experience in investigation of EEO complaints, including managerial experience. Must be proficient with the Microsoft 2010 suite and competent in learning new systems. Master’s degree can be substituted for two years of applied experience.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, management, organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills and high level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information are required.
