Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking Receptionist for NJMS-Pediatrics-WIC Program. This positions has an intimate understanding of the culture, languages and challenges of their neighborhoods and, therefore, is trusted by the people living there. They can take on some of the nonclinical tasks that are now carried out by more highly trained and higher-paid nurses, physicians and nutritionists. They can make sure individuals get WIC appointments/information, necessary technological support and outreach referrals, as necessary and get connected to community resources. Therefore, assisting with the barriers to good health care that are not medical, but have more to do with social, cultural or economic issues.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides welcome servicing and extra attention for new WIC families.
  • Responsible for orientation related tasks to create a sense of belonging and positive first impression of WIC
  • Introduces participants to WIC technology (Participant Portal, WIC Shopper Shopping App, NJWIC online Parent and Nutrition Learning
  • Provides follow-up to ensure WIC referred services are acted on and effective
  • Participates in recruitment in traditional and non-traditional settings.
  • Assists with community outreach

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • A minimum of a H.S Diploma/GED.
  • One to three (1-3) full years of clerical experience performing data entry activities, database maintenance and general office services support, preferably in a health care services setting.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills and be familiar with community and the WIC program.

Preferred Qualifications
  • The ability to speak Spanish or Creole, is an asset.

Equipment Utilized
  • Microsoft Office Suite, WOW system and CANVA
Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.
