ABOUT THE POSITION

Mobility Project Manager - Transportation Engineering

Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ

VHB is looking a Mobility Project Manager with approximately 8 to 11 years of transportation engineering experience to join our vibrant and growing transportation consulting practice in our New York City office. We are looking for someone with a blend of technical expertise, managerial skills, and innovative thinking, who would play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.

Successful candidates will work with our Transportation, State/Local Government, Real Estate, and Institutional Market Sectors to win and execute projects in both the public and private sectors within the five boroughs of New York City. The candidate will assist in developing and shaping the Mobility department, and must demonstrate their abilities for strategic thinking, business development, professional networking, and experience with developing and maintaining key client and teaming partner relationships.

Responsibilities

    Assist and manage a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects
  • Provide technical and professional development of staff
  • Manage client relationships
  • Monitor project financial performance
  • Attend and lead meetings with agencies, clients, consultant partners, and stakeholders
  • Execute scope associated with transportation planning, operations and/or design for projects
  • Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners
  • Develop new project opportunities, and prepare and manage proposal submissions

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong writing skills for proposals, technical reports and memoranda
  • Ability to balance multiple concurrent assignments
  • Ability to manage projects and also perform QA/QC tasks and ensure project controls
  • Ability to train, mentor and lead staff on a wide range of project assignments
  • Excel in working in a team environment
  • Experience with VISSIM or Aimsun is a plus
  • Experience with VBA, PYTHON, SQL and databases a plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation a plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Transportation Engineering required
  • Master's degree preferred (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
  • 8-11 years of professional transportation engineering experience, including project management, with at least 3 years of recent experience working in the NYC metro market required
  • 11-15 years of experience preferred
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Experience working with NYC CEQR Technical Manual procedures and familiarity with NYC and NYS regulatory processes required
  • Experience with HCS and/or Synchro strongly desired
  • Additional experience in New Jersey, New York region a plus

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $115,000 - 170,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
