Overview

The Controls Technician II will provide on-site installation assistance to complete control systems projects. Controls System Technician's responsibilities include supporting survey efforts and to install new or retrofit control systems.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide design assistance to the controls design team.

  • Provide work direction to subcontractors and electrical installers as necessary.

  • Ensures work performed complies with state, local, and Federal legal requirements.

  • Implement building automation system programming modifications as directed by the project lead.

  • Complete start-up of control systems.

  • Troubleshoot control installation problems.

  • Ability to provide control services or retrofits for existing systems.

  • Ability modify and operate internal programs within control systems for diagnosis and support.

  • Assist in completing project closeout documentations.

  • Attends meetings with owners, clients, and sub-contractors. Prepares meeting notes and site observation reports.

  • Participates in internal and external training programs as required by supervisor.

  • Any other duties as assigned by Company Leadership.

This position is Full Time, Exempt, and reports to Business Unit Manager or Project Manager.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of HVAC-R Controls experience

  • Experience with JCI, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, Tridium, Schneider, or other building automation systems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Well versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.

  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • HVAC Trade School Education with understanding of HVAC principles and refrigeration cycle

  • Low/High Voltage Electrical experience

  • Healthcare or Higher Education project experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Work, Excel, PowerPoint.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel will be required and is dependent on project location and needs.

  • The travel commitment is estimated to be as high as 50% of regular work schedule per month.

  • Generally, travel is during the work week and not expected over weekends.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • The work environment will be a combination of an office environment and site survey environment.

  • Site surveys will include exposure to external weather, loud noises, and poorly accessible spaces.

  • Ability to survey confined spaces within a facility to gather necessary information on building equipment.

  • The use of ladders to survey equipment above ceiling is required periodically.
