Rutgers, The Statue University of New Jersey is seeking a Community Liaison for NJMS-Psychiatry. As a member of the Northern NJ Medication-Assisted Treatment Center of Excellence (COE) team, this role builds relationships with our external stakeholders that provide treatment for patients with substance-use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues. The Community Liaison serves as the clinical representative at community meetings to ensure continuity across all our initiatives. The Community Liaison assists in identifying current resources, community programs, and public benefits to further support our patients in their wellbeing and recovery.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Engages community and social service organizations to identify resource pool for patient use and for potential collaboration.
  • Contributes meaningful input during discussions/updates at assigned meetings.
  • Meets weekly with supervisor to review community meeting schedule and stakeholder concerns.
  • Provides educational information and resources as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of clinical services offered and varying qualifiers for all Center of Excellence initiatives.
  • Attends addiction, mental health, and housing workshops or seminars as appropriate.
  • Keeps accurate records of all community contacts.
  • Attends staff meetings and required meetings of local agencies for which the Center of Excellence provides services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • A minimum of high school diploma/GED.
  • Education and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Must also have a valid New Jersey driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to meet and deal with a wide variety of community partners; to follow written and oral orders directions, or plans; to keep accurate records; to gather needed information; to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units
  • Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstration proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment includes both office-based services, hospital-based settings, and community outreach. Individual wellness checks and crisis intervention required. Subject to unpredictable situations, patient crises, to include behavioral, medical and psychiatric crisis.
