Position Summary:

The Department of Informatics at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) seeks candidates to fill Adjunct Instructor positions. Candidates are expected to teach one or two introductory courses and advanced courses in support of our undergraduate and graduate programs. NJIT has recently expanded its graduate programs to Jersey City, just across the Hudson River from the financial district of Lower Manhattan in New York City, where it serves the many working professionals in that region. Instructional staff are expected to teach at this site as needed.

Essential Functions:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses

Prerequisite Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have an MS degree in computing or a related area. Candidates should demonstrate an expert grasp of knowledge in one or more of the following areas: information science, computer science, data science, communication, information technology, network administration, Information systems, human-computer interaction, Informatics, media technology, and/or social analytics, either through a record of teaching excellence, or through industrial experience. Knowledge in computing pedagogy is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills are required in order to communicate effectively with students in person and online. The formal education and experience prerequisites may be waived at the university’s discretion if the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
