DuPont Electronics & Industrial has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Senior Product Quality Engineer for the Semiconductor Technologies business located in Newark, Delaware.

This Engineer role within the Advanced Cleans & Slurry Technologies (ACST) organization is being opened up to support business growth and customer satisfaction opportunities and will report to the Slurry Product Quality Leader in Newark. In this fast paced and highly visible role, you will interface with top-tier customers on a global basis as well as interface with global internal teams including R&D, Product Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Improvement Engineering and Marketing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Product Engineer is the technical owner and specification responsible person for Commercialized Slurry Product Families.

  • Tactical Work Expectations:

  • Provide product conformance ownership, work cross-functionally to ensure fit-form-function-reliability of product dispositions (MRB).

  • Provide voice of customer to operations and help to maintain healthy SPC culture. Participate in routing SPC reviews and control plan / FMEA updates.

  • Ensure rapid response to customer complaints. Responsible to own the 8D process and work across functions to establish team and drive the root cause and corrective actions. Ensure communication strategy on issue is managed both internally as well as externally for customer consumption

  • Provide timely and satisfactory response to customer special requests pertaining to your assigned commercial slurry product lines.

  • Ensure new products are ready for transfer from Development to Manufacturing as responsible party in stage gate process.

  • Active participate in MOC process including risk reviews for product conformance and validation after changes including preparation of external communication and management of the Change Notification to the sales teams / customers. This includes close collaboration with manufacturing, raw material engineering, strategic material partners, business leadership, and product quality teams to ensure smooth implementation of change with minimal business or operational risks or impacts.

  • Ensure work prioritization and time management to hit the department and personal goals and metrics. Routine metrics include response time and item closure time to customer on complaints and requests.

Strategic Leadership Expectations:

  • Responsible to create product improvement strategy both in performance and outgoing quality. Will provide routine review and updates to health of assigned product lines to align with business the prioritized strategy. This includes looking at manufacturing opportunities from weakness in control plan or FMEA, Development opportunities for better design for manufacturability and assessment of complaints and issues reported by customers.

  • Managing the process change strategy around assign product lines and keeping the Process Change Horizon updated for business and customer.

  • Training field service engineers and other sales staff on technical aspects of products.

  • Acting as steward for DuPont’s product information.

Qualifications

Minimum requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years of industrial experience in manufacturing or process engineering role.

  • Hands-on experience with statistical process control methods and design of experiments.

  • Ability to make good engineering judgments independently is required.

  • Demonstrated communication skills toward external customers and to high level leaders

  • Experience in customer communication: ensuring both companies are aligned on the same goals and understandings.

  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Preferred Requirements: (necessary for success, but not on day 1)

  • Specific product knowledge for products in business

  • Specific application knowledge of customer base using these products

  • Deep understanding of how the products are manufactured

  • Hands on experience with chemical / physical material analysis and characterization.

  • Ability to communicate across cultures and language barriers and people adapt to urgent (angry or emotional) situations.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts between co-workers or with suppliers or customers

  • 6-sigma (green/black belt) project management.

  • Experience on JMP software (data analysis software).

  • Experience / Knowledge with multi-disciplinary engineering principles (mechanical, chemical metrology, etc).

Successful candidates will have the following attributes:

  • Strong communication skills and initiation: Appreciation of customer’s trust, Be internal advocate represent customer’s voice. Capable of translating customer needs into internal action plans and crafting internal project progress into customer communications

  • Excellent project leadership, candidate needs to practice Influential leadership to drive internal cross-functional actions for represented customers

  • Hands on and fast learner. Candidate will need to be a generalist, take the initiative to learn key project info or customer issue status quickly, and translate into external customer communication or internal feedback to drive project status.
