Senior Mechanical Designer

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Sr. Mechanical Designer to grow into the lead design supervisor for the Mechanical department. in the categories listed above. Skills may be acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering or working as a design lead in any of the categories above. We are open to considering various backgrounds and prefer to have someone with a passion and energy to grow in this role who has HVAC 2D and/or 3D design experience, Process duct and / or piping 2D experience and Mechanical Equipment 3D experience.

This position will be based out of KBR’s Newark, DE office and will be eligible for a flexible work schedule, with in office and remote work opportunities. Work can be performed full time in the office if preferred.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Specific responsibilities will involve HVAC design and layout, routing HVAC and process duct in accordance with SMACNA design standards (training will be provided). Additional responsibility will be HVAC equipment 3D modeling, developing equipment arrangement drawings, and developing equipment models against supplier drawings. These systems are in large industrial facilities around the world and are a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn and grow.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years Piping and/ or HVAC experience; including but not necessarily limited to: familiarity with SMACNA, HVAC design practices, duct routing, sizing, and overall design of HVAC systems.

  • Proficient knowledge and experience with 2D AutoCAD capabilities.

  • Experience in 3D Modeling, PDMS (E3D-Modeling) and PDMS DRAFT (E3D-DRAW) a plus.

  • Any experience with platforms such as SolidWorks is a plus but not mandatory.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to function within a project team.

  • Competency in MS Office software required.

  • Must be capable of traveling to client sites and passing client site badge requirements, including background checks and drug screen.
