These services range from small, standalone contracts to world-class mega projects.

KBR's office in Newark, DE holds a leading role in our Integrated Solutions business, providing engineering and project deliverables to our clients. Services include front-end and detailed engineering, procurement, construction services, and program management primarily in the hydrocarbons and energy transition industries.

Mechanical Engineering and Design Internship

We are looking for Mechanical students interested in an internship for the Summer of 2023 with our Mechanical Engineering and Design team. We encourage you to apply and become a member of the KBR Team of Teams!

The key duties and responsibilities for this role include:

  • Participate within a broad range of specific on-project design tasks under supervision of a Mechanical Work Group Lead (WGL) and take on one or two specific design projects under the Department Managers (DM) oversight.

  • These tasks will be developed to ensure the experience is intense and challenging and more importantly rewarding upon completion.

  • The final week of this program will be a presentation of the design projects developed by the Department Manager to the office leadership and may encompass departmental objectives as well as company wide objectives.

The learning objectives for this role include:

  • Expose students to fundamental aspects of mechanical engineering within a full-service design engineering office.

  • Involve students in practical design work, expanding on their subject specific knowledge obtained in the college curriculum.

  • Expose students to the non-course related side of a design office engineering position

  • Take the lead on a special design project mutually agreeable to student and Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, seeking a baccalaureate, master's, or doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration or interest in thermal, fluids or mechanical design

  • 2-D drafting experience with either Autocad or Microstation preferred

  • Solidworks software experience preferred, not mandatory (other areas of specialty considered)

  • MS Database proficiency desired to complete previous design project

  • Completed thermal, fluids and mechanical design classes

  • Interest to develop sustainability design concepts within the mechanical discipline a plus

  • Good academic standing as established by your college or university

  • Have a declared degree and major appropriate for the position
