Mechanical Engineer, Piping

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Mechanical Engineering, Piping to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. With additional experience within one functional area, you will assist in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations, and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for design, specification and services related to piping systems and piping layout, standard and specialty piping components, pressure, weight and thermal analysis of piping systems, vibration analysis and piping support systems.

  • Assist in conducting piping reviews of all project packages prior to issue for construction to ensure that quality procedures were followed.

  • Review project design estimates and work scopes for each new project

  • Responsible for collaboration in a multi office environment

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of applicable experience within the chemical and industrial industries

  • Proficiency with pipe stress analysis and finite elements software ( Caesar II and NozzlePro preferred) a plus

  • Experience in navigating 3D models with Navisworks

  • Experience in Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc...) is required

  • Ability to travel and work at client sites is required

  • AutoCAD experience is a plus

  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and B31.1 a plus

  • Professional Engineer license a plus

Physical Qualifications

  • Work may be required to be performed at client sites and may require exposure to ambient temperature extremes.

  • Work may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, and steel-toed boots.

  • Day-to-day physical requirements involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs. frequently, etc.

  • Work may require moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas and walking up stairs

  • May require walking the plant property
