New York University Post Doctoral Associate (Jerschow Lab) in New York

The Jerschow research group seeks motivated individuals who wish to perform postdoctoral research in NMR spectroscopy and MRI imaging. The main project for this particular position is to work on the development of DNP methodology for water vapor hyperpolarization and the study of theoretical and methodological aspects that may lead to potential applications for lung imaging. This work is performed in collaboration with Dr. Leeor Alonfrom NYU’s Langone Medical Center, and there are opportunities to interface with research in the area of in vivo MRI if desired.

The Jerschow lab entertains a broad range of research projects, and postdocs would be expected to participate in multiple projects, which could also involve work on in-situ MRI of batteries and battery materials, the study of nuclear spin singlet states and liquid state dynamics, as well as computational and theoretical work. Postdocs will have the opportunity to help supervise graduate and undergraduate students early in their research careers.

The initial term of employment is one year with a possibility of renewal for up to three years. There is also the possibility of subsidized housing provided by NYU, although this cannot be guaranteed (previous postdocs all were able to get it when needed).

NYU provides a stimulating and vibrant environment for those interested in experimental, computational, and theoretical chemistry and biophysics. The Chemistry department is in the heart of Manhattan, next to Washington Square Park.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, this position's annual base salary range is $58,500 – $64,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Successful applicants will have experience in molecular modeling and simulation, hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Biophysics, or a related field, and have a firm knowledge of NMR spectroscopy and/or MRI imaging. Experience with simulation or computational methods is a plus.
