Assistant Controller responsibilities

As a new Assistant Controller at Mozaic, you can expect to work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to handle day-to-day financial operations. Your responsibilities may include assisting with budget preparation, financial reporting, and variance analysis. You will be tasked with ensuring compliance with accounting principles, all governmental regulations and organizational policies, as well as identifying areas for process improvement. You will prepare monthly and annual summaries and analysis of financial statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making. Hours are Monday through Friday, however, may vary based on operational needs.

What we're looking for in an Assistant Controller

To excel as an Assistant Controller at Mozaic, you should possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in financial and accounting software to include Microsoft Office Suite with extended proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential for this role. Five years of experience with New York State funding streams (Medicaid, OMRDD, VESID, SED, OMH) is preferred. You should have a solid understanding of accounting principles and experience with financial reporting.

Excellent communication skills are key, as you will be interacting with various stakeholders to convey financial information effectively. Being able to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines is crucial in this fast-paced environment. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis is highly desirable.

Additionally, the ability to adapt to new technologies and systems will be beneficial for success in this position.
