The anticipated salary range for this role is between $114,000.00 and $189,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

Treasury Project Manager is a part of the Treasury & HOMIS group within JRIA. This role plans and implements treasury applications in coordination with other technical teams in JRIA, business departments in SMBC and Tokyo application development/support teams. The role includes on-going application maintenance activities and production support.

Treasury Project Manager supports the Head Office managed treasury systems such as Foreign Exchange Dealing support system and Treasury dealing support system applications that interface with various internal/external applications in NA/EMEA and the Tokyo Head Office. SMBC is driving System Grand Design (SGD) initiative to restructure global treasury technology ecosystem. This infrastructure manager role is expected to build capability to drive the SGD projects and also support the newly introduced applications post Go Live.

Role Objectives: Interpersonal

  • Daily routine include end-to-end project management, troubleshooting of user and production issues and on-going application maintenance activities.

  • Acts as a technical expert who works cross-functionally on multi-disciplinary projects within area of expertise.

  • Form strong partnerships with business stakeholders to agree and refine program scope, timelines and target deliverables.

  • Promote coordination between program work-streams to ensure alignment and awareness of over-arching program objectives.

  • Partner with impacted process owners to inform program delivery and objectives.

  • Share expected outcomes and impact assessments to encourage buy-in on target end state.

  • Cultivate and maintain internal network of subject matter experts to advise on questions and contribute to program delivery as required.

  • Align with program management teams in other regions or business verticals to share best practice and collaborate on cross-divisional or cross-regional initiatives as appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Business level fluency in Japanese as well as English

  • Experience in managing large-scale projects by defining business and technical requirements, tracking schedule, estimate workload, obtain quotes from external vendors, budget approval process support, coordinate development effort with internal & external parties such as network team, storage team, and UNIX SA Team, mitigate issues and risks.

  • Meet with business users to gather requirements and translate them into functional requirements, then consult with SME to execute.

  • Review the project plan and evaluate feasibility, and suggest better implementation scheme when available

  • Organize testing effort including UAT.

  • Present technical requirements to the budget owners and obtain necessary project budget.

  • Banking business knowledge such as back office business analysis and design experience including payment, settlement, cash flow, accounting and reconciliation is a plus.

  • Knowledge of project management methodology/SDLC/PLC processes in IT financial services environments is a plus.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • An analytical, problem-solving mindset and delivery focused with a customer first mentality.

  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams in a fast-paced development environment.
