JOB PURPOSE

Group leaders are enthusiastic, highly motivated, and creative role models who are directly responsible for the well-being and safety of participants. Group leaders are also ambassadors of fun! They help introduce participants to new experiences in the areas of academics, the arts, athletics, and more!

SCOPE OF INFLUENCE

  • Direct client group: Youth in grades K-8

  • Directly supervised by Program Director

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assume responsibility for the health, safety, and well-being of participants.

  • Participate and/or facilitate all program activities (create lesson plans).

  • Ensure that each participant makes new friends and/or strengthens bonds with peers.

  • Provide quality supervision at all times with extra special attention paid to group, lunch, and transitional periods.

  • Keep record of participants attendance, activity, behavior, and injuries/accidents

  • Maintain standards of professional conduct, attendance, and punctuality

  • Work harmoniously with an assigned Co-group leader.

  • Communicate regularly with the Director.

  • Attend all days of staff orientation before program begins.

  • Attend all days of program.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous formal or informal experience working with children.

  • Previous formal or informal experience working in early childhood a plus.

  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn and/or teach basic sustainability methods.

  • Experience working in a camp, JCC, after-school program, or similar youth-based setting a plus.

  • Experience or interest in working in an inclusive environment that supports children with special needs a plus.

  • Pursuing and/or holding an undergraduate or graduate degree a plus

Work days are Monday through Thursday. Schedules vary as follows:

Middle School: 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Elementary School: Either 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

This position will operate July through August at 40 hours per week.
