Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the forensic accounting industry, based in New York, New York, 10006, United States. In this role, you will be involved in strategic planning sessions with the accounting team, conducting financial investigations, forensic research, and preparation of accounting reports.

Responsibilities:

• Participating in strategic planning sessions with the accounting team

• Assisting clients with conducting financial interviews during the financial investigation to accurately identify all parties involved

• Performing forensic research to trace funds and identify assets for recovery

• Verifying claims to source documents and evaluating insurance claims and economic damage

• Collaborating closely with senior staff on litigation cases, first-party property, and business valuations

• Assisting in the preparation of accounting reports from financial findings

• Ensuring compliance with state and federal laws

• Conducting research and other tasks assigned by the supervisor

• Utilizing skills such as CPA, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Month End Close, GAAP Accounting, Audit Schedules, Daily Schedule, and Forensic Accounting. Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role

• Strong Excel is a must (pivots, lookups, formulas)

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Prior Audit experience highly preferred

• Knowledge of GAAP Accounting principles is essential

• Must be able to manage a Daily Schedule effectively

• Experience in Forensic Accounting is desirable

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Must have a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required
