WSP USA Sr. Substation Estimator in New York, New York

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Sr. Substation Estimator for our Boston, MA office. The following locations will also be considered: Newark NJ, New York City, NY . Be involved in projects with our Energy Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates for high voltage substation projects, including equipment, material, construction and labor. • Analyze project scopes and develop cost alternatives.• Develop Basis for Estimate documents for high voltage substations.• Establish estimating cost standards formats to ensure overall program consistency and cost quality• Work closely with the engineering designers to ensure accurate understanding of the design and specifications and meet good estimating practices.• Work closely with Project Manager and Scheduler to develop and refine Integrated Master Schedules• Develop and maintain the relationship with equipment and construction vendors.• Manage bids from vendors and contractors.• Comple and maintain database of actual costs.• Develop & maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support project such as other Engineering disciplines, Drafting, Procurement, Construction and Project Management etc.• Mentor and provide guidance to developing junior engineers within the department.• Support technical proposals. • Reports to the Substation Engineering Manager, East.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or relevant experience.

• A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in cost estimating of high voltage substations and equipment.

• Develop scopes of work for all sub-contractors and determine best solution/selection after clarifications

• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is an asset.

• Knowledge of Renewable projects (Solar, Wind farm, Hydro and BESS) and data center projects is a strong plus.

• Strong client focus

Compensation and Benefits

Expected Salary: $97,800 - $161,000
