Uber Sr. Software Engineer - (Backend) Grocery in New York, New York

About the Role

The Grocery and Retail Storefront is looking to add a backend Sr. Software Engineer to help us continue to build out the best in class shopping product. The team focuses on expanding storefront offerings through new user experiences, seamless basket building and reordering functionality, as well as exciting new features such as Smart Cart and Shopping Lists!

What You'll Do

  • Lead projects across multiple engineers

  • Help architect the future of the Grocery and Retail Storefront to allow for seamless scalability across large catalogs

  • Deliver high quality, performant code that extends the capabilities of the Grocery and Retail Storefront

  • Partner with stakeholders across a dozen teams to align, build, coordinate, and release highly impactful features

  • Mentor more junior engineers on best practices

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of BE experience designing and shipping projects at scale

  • Experience working on production critical code bases that are used by 10s of millions of users monthly

  • Experience on product teams building highly performant products

  • Experience in latency optimizations and solutions that are outside the box

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
