Kinship SEO Associate (contract) in New York, New York

Kinship and Science & Diagnostics are divisions of Mars Petcare—and are dedicated to one purpose: creating A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS™. Through comprehensive veterinary care, nutrition, breakthrough programs in diagnostics, wearable health monitoring, DNA testing and pet welfare, our 100,000 Petcare Associates help pets in more than 130 countries.

This is a contract position through December 31, 2024, potential to extend or convert to full time.

Summary

Kinship’s mission is to support, educate and engage pet parents at every step along their journey as a single source of truth for pet care via expert advice, curated, customized content, and 24/7 access to licensed veterinarians, nutrition and behavior experts. We currently operate under a house-of-brands structure, with Kinship being the behind-the-scenes force that owns and drives our four consumer-facing brands: Adopt-a-Pet (adoption platform), The Wildest (content site with expert health, behavior, nutrition, etc advice), and The Kin (televet chat/app, record storage, personalized recommendation, PetExec (empowers organizations of all sizes to dedicate more time to what truly matters – pets)

In order to best support our users, our SEO, content and product offerings need to constantly be optimized and evolved. Kinship is looking for an SEO Coordinator to work cross-functionally with our Content, SEO and Product teams to optimize The Wildest and Adopt a Pet’s content readability, SEO health, user experience, and accessibility. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp on SEO on both the content and tech fronts. They also have hands-on experience working in a CMS, preferably Contentful, as well as excellent editorial and product management skills. Attention to detail is a must. An interest in pets is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing SEO agency by analyzing and feedbacking their recommendations

  • Work with internal cross functional partners to implement strategies, including:

  • Reviewing SEO briefs delivered by agency and compiling cross functional feedback on the briefs to streamline agency communications

  • Manage execution of workstreams, including workback timelines and status updates, for all SEO initiatives

  • Demonstrate value against all initiatives by providing feedback or insights to inform to SEO Manager

  • Active monitoring and sharing of industry news, SEO trends and innovative new tools

  • Analyze Kinship brands’ website data and performance to identify areas of improvement

  • Support efforts to acquire high-quality backlinks

  • Work cross functionally with marketing peers to ensure SEO strategies are aligned with overall business goals

  • Prepares findings from agency analyses to internal stakeholders by telling the story within the data in a digestible format for the audience

Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience at a content site (or brand that has a content platform/blog)

  • CMS experience (preferably Contentful) preferred

  • Strong foundation on SEO best practices, keyword research, and how to evaluate SERPs to determine what content to produce

  • Excellent writing, editing and project management skills

  • Self-starter who can prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Creative thinker who can ideate SEO optimizations to drive search traffic

COMPENSATION

The New York, New York contract salary range for this position is $35-45 hourly, commensurate with experience.
