Description

Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Sr. Innovation Engineer to lead the development of new robotic products to integrate into our WW (World Wide) network. The successful candidate will be a member of the Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team and will be responsible to strategize, define and manage the lifecycle of new robotics technologies for the AMZL Delivery Stations.

This role requires experienced and entrepreneurial minded individuals with combined robotics, engineering, planning and analytical skills. This individual will directly influence the Amazon last mile automation roadmap by partnering with Robotics, SW Tech Teams, Process Engineering teams, Operations, Facilities and Engineering teams to improve our final customer shopping experience.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead the hardware development and the validation process of complex mechatronic systems,

• Own the lifecycle of a Robotic products defining the 3–5-year roadmap,

• Collect customer needs and feedback from the technologies deployed in the field to propose new solutions and enhancements,

• Author white papers and business cases for new automation initiatives for the WW last-mile network

• Influence technical and business decisions working through data-driven contributions based on technology tests and validation plans,

• Partner with Mechanical, Controls and Software teams to plan the technologies integration in the field,

• Partner with simulation team for validating new ideas and concepts to automate manual process paths

• Contribute to design the Delivery Station of the future combining Robotics, Automation, IoT and Machine Learning disciplines,

• Lead the discussion for scalability strategy of new technologies working with various teams like Engineering, vendors, Supply Chain, Corp Dev, etc.

A day in the life

You will ideate and bring to life new technologies for AMZL. Your day could include: working with new vendors on developing concepts for AMZL with automation and robotics technology to being in the field and learning the challenges that associates face. You would write a business case and work with stakeholders to build a case for piloting new technology. You could dive deep into understanding how the tech influences AMZL processes and the associate’s lives. You will demonstrate through data the actual benefits of the new technologies integration in the field bringing your entrepreneurial and innovative spirit at disposal of the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, or equivalent

  • 5+ years experience solving end to end complex hardware engineering problems

  • Experience with stakeholder and vendor management and negotiation

  • Ability to design a project strategy that appropriately splits work into components to be designed and developed by other HDEs/EEs/MEs in parallel and then reassembled successfully into a cohesive component or system design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production

  • Experience with the project management of technical projects

  • Ability to effectively research and benchmark our hardware against others in the industry.

  • Ability to build machine learning algorithms co-partnering with SW teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
