Your Opportunity

Stantec’s New York City office has an immediate need for talented, Resident Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience in NYC Infrastructure construction projects. This position is for an individual with solid experience looking to challenge themselves on a professional level on a variety of construction management and inspection projects. You will have the opportunity to gain experience, work on exciting and multi-faceted projects, and grow your career.

The successful candidates will join a growing team of transportation professionals and contribute to the growth and success of Construction Management and Resident Engineering Inspection team throughout New York Metro Area.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all activities of the project and ensure full compliance to project plans and specifications.

  • Manage a staff of construction inspectors, office engineers and administrative staff.

  • Manage the scope, budget, quality, safety, and schedule of work.

  • Maintain custody of all construction related permits, plans, approvals, drawings, etc., related to the project.

  • Recognize, minimize, or eliminate jobsite and public hazards, through required planning, inspection, verification, and corrective action process.

  • Monitor the conditions at the site for conformance with the Contractor’s Site Safety Plan, Agency policies, permits, and all applicable regulations and documentation that pertain to construction safety.

  • Review project submittals including quality, security, and safety plans, work plans, and schedules; Validate and monitor Contractor’s invoices for payment in accordance with progress of the work.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Expertise and prior experience with assisting in bringing matters to a prompt resolution as they pertain to standard engineering and construction practices.

  • Strong technical and project coordination skills, written and verbal communication skills and negotiation skills.

  • Knowledge of construction, project management scheduling and estimating, and federal and state regulations and industry safety standards.

  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 30, CCM, ENV-SP, PMP, etc. are highly desired.

  • Proficient in the use of personal computer and office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.

  • Local NYC experience with NYCDDC, NYCDEP, NYCDOT, NYSDOT, Port Authority of NY&NJ, and MTA are preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college.

  • Valid NYS Professional Engineering License (ASCE Grade V) or ability to obtain ASAP.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction inspection or management of infrastructure construction projects.

Salary Range(s):

  • $123,700 - $185,600 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
