The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Research Assistant will work closely with the Division of Movement Disorders clinical research core in the Department of Neurology on multiple clinical research studies for movement disorders. This role involves significant patient interaction and collaboration with physicians and administrators.

Responsibilities

The position involves many distinct roles and responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee recruiting and consenting activities for pharmaceutical company sponsored and federally funded studies, related to Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCA), and Essential Tremor (ET), Parkinson's Disease (PD) and other movement disorders.
  • Adhere to strict regulatory guidelines and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards to ensure the integrity and validity of the study results.
  • Accurately collect and enter data according to ALCOA+C standards into electronic case report forms.
  • Analyze data from Excel and SPSS databases; perform statistical/hypothesis testing and summarize key findings.
  • Collect and process blood, CSF, Urine, Skin Biopsy and other biological samples per diagnostic/experimental study protocol.
  • Perform IRB regulatory submissions: write and edit project summary protocols and consent forms; update the protocols for modifications and renewals when necessary.
  • Assist with writing and editing manuscripts and grants as necessary.
  • Conduct study visits including electrocardiograph, vitals, cognitive assessments and other responsibilities on the schedule of events through the delegation of authority.
  • Administer semi-structured clinical interviews with patients and healthy controls using study-specific assessments, including vitals, review of medical history, and cognitive/neuropsychological testing.
  • Assist with division wide responsibilities to support the operations of clinical research core.
  • Ability to adapt to protocol and patient requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing/cleaning databases and fluency with statistics are strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Excel and SPSS is Preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish
