Rockefeller University Research Assistant | Laboratory of Retrovirology in New York, New York

Organization Overview

The biology and evolution of viruses and eukaryotes are closely linked. Dr. Paul Bieniasz seeks to define how host genes influence the replication of viruses, with an emphasis on human and primate immunodeficiency viruses. The Laboratory of Retrovirology, led by Dr. Bieniasz, seeks to characterize the host functions that viruses mimic, manipulate, and otherwise exploit, as well as the defenses cells have evolved against viral infection.

Overview

The Research Assistant will work on projects aiming to understand the interaction between cellular proteins, vaccines, antibodies and viruses, including HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2.

Responsibilities

Responsiblities include:

  • Molecular virology experiments, including:

  • cloning

  • protein biochemistry

  • flow cytometry experiments

  • cell culture

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred

  • Experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques

  • Experience working with mice is a plus

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

USD $52,000.00/Yr.
