The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Psychologist, Social Emotional Learning Liaison, Grades K-8 in New York, New York

Responsibilities:

* Providing SEL instruction and counseling services to students who have been recommended to the Child Study Team for additional and/or enhanced support and effectively conveying these interventions to the teachers

* Conducting informal and formal assessments and interpreting the results for parents and teachers to create remedial plans to support students

* Counseling students in both individual and group formats

* Developing and delivering Social and Emotional learning curriculum such as developmentally-appropriate conflict-resolution, friendship-building, stress and time-management, and organizational strategies to children, depending on divisional placement

* Supervising doctoral-level interns and externs and post-doctoral fellows

* Planning and teaching graduate-level seminars for psychology students receiving training at The School

* Commit to the academic and social mission of The School, which encompasses differentiation to meet the needs of a diverse community

* Collaborate in the design and implementation of an integrated SEL curriculum

* Keep careful anecdotal and assessment records and use them to write accurate, comprehensive student reports

* May oversee the Gender and Sexuality Education program and serves as the liaison between The School and Columbia University's Mailman School of Health faculty and staff; depending on divisional placement.

* Fulfilling all duties, responsibilities, and commitments as outlined in the school's Guidebook and the organization's code of conduct

* Engage in ongoing communication with parents/guardians

* Keep careful anecdotal and assessment records to write accurate, comprehensive student reports that reflect student growth and support their future education

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Doctorate-level degree in School or Clinical Psychology from an APA-approved graduate program

* New York State Psychologist License

* Commitment to equity and justice including knowledge and skills related to cultural competencies

* Experience with individual and group counseling, using empirically supported methodologies

* Experience counseling children and families from a wide range of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds

* Expertise in the administration and interpretation of a wide variety of educational and psychological tests

* Experience with social and emotional curriculum implementation for schools

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Wide-ranging intellectual and educational interests

* Commitment to diversity and collegiality

* Familiarity with new technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of Spanish
