Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Accountant/Billing Specialist to join our Finance team. In this role, you will provide crucial support in managing financial aspects of engineering projects. This position is hybrid and may be based in either our New York, NY or Newark, NJ office.

Responsibilities

    Develops and enhances knowledge of contract administration principles and techniques.
  • Assistance with project setup/budgeting; including review of contract compensation and billing methods.
  • Accounts payable coordination with subconsultants and vendors including logging, reviewing and coding of invoices.
  • Assistance with research and resolution of client questions pertaining to subconsultant invoicing.
  • Responsible for monthly preparation and processing of routine client billings.
  • Follows established procedures for processing receipts, cash, and invoices.
  • Maintain project financial records and billing supporting documentation (timesheets, expense reports, etc) in compliance with client requirements.
  • Support the Finance team and Project Managers with various other finance and contract related tasks.
  • Provide support with regards to tracking of general office expense costs.

  • Self-starter who can identify and actively pursue solutions to diligently advance company or client objectives with minimal direction
  • The innate desire to produce high-quality work with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
  • Ability to take on new tasks and adapt to different work assignments and personalities
  • Ability to communicate openly and effectively both verbally and in writing

Qualifications

  • 0-4 years of related accounting, finance, billing, or equivalent experience (preferably within the Engineering, Architecture or Construction industries)
  • Proficient in Excel with intermediate skills including experience utilizing VLOOKUP functions, Pivot Tables, and strong understanding of Excel formulas.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Deltek Vision is desired
  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance, management, or related field.
  • Notary Public preferred.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $52,000 - $74,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
