S ummary

The Principal Electrical Engineer will be a designated discipline authority for Electrical Engineering C&D-wide. The incumbent may be involved in conducting reviews of projects being designed and constructed by MTA Construction and Development to identify potential issues related to the surrounding project area, thereby developing plans to mitigate any concerns and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state , and local laws, utility practices and MTA Polices.

Responsibilities

Oversee the development and updating of Master Electrical Requirements and Design Criteria (PRDC) for documents for implementation on MTA Design-Build capital projects.

Oversees development and updating Electrical Master Specifications for incorporation into Design-Bid and Bid-Build projects.

Supports the Business Units by managing various services such as electrical rollout strategies, expansion, load letter reviews , and activities related to electrical power, lighting, instrumentation and control, traction power , etc.

Oversee the development and presentation of technical training seminars and evaluat ion sessions for CEUs and PDHs.

Coordinates with the Business Units to identify and prioritize training requirements.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in the appropriate Engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Communications, Track, Signals, Environmental, Fire Protection).

Masters preferred.

Must have a minimum of seventeen (17) years of related experience .

Must have a minimum of ten (10) years in a management or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.

Competencies:

A registered NYS Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.

Significant experience tackling large-scale engineering issues for major construction projects or projects with highly complex systems i s preferred.

Substantial experience leading and managing designers, contractors, subcontractors, and/or vendors.

Proven ability to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders and drive project/program outcomes.

Strong knowledge of the applicable industry and NYS building and design codes and standards.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal organizational levels .

Demonstrated ability to work in a high - profile, high - pressure environment effectively.

Must have focus and ability to deliver on results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.

Must possess excellent team - building , listening, problem - solving, and prioritization skills.

Alternate Delivery experience preferred.

Proficiency in current design and engineering software and Microsoft Office are required.

An attitude and commitment to actively participating in our employee culture is necessary .

Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project re quirement s /timelines.

Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
