THE OPPORTUNITY

This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Scientist is an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, one of the nation's foremost academic health science centers. The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is the top in comparison with other pediatrics department in the NY region in NIH research funding.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The laboratory of Dr. Milner seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scientist with experience in human and/or mouse lymphocyte immunology.
  • Our laboratory studies patients with known or yet to be discovered monogenic diseases of allergy in order to determine how genetic lesions cause atopic phenotypes. Lymphocyte receptor and cytokine signaling pathways are often implicated, as well as novel pathways more poorly understood, leading to a research program that integrates signaling and differentiation studies, disease modeling with functional study of mutant transfections, and in some cases, mouse models of human disease.
  • This is an excellent opportunity to gain expertise in an innovative area at the interface of genomics and immunology with direct clinical relevance as well.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a doctorate degree (M.D. or Ph.D.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highly motivated individuals with a doctoral degree in biology or immunology.
  • Competence in lymphocyte culture and flow cytometry techniques, bio-statistical analysis, and a track record of independent and collaborative research.
  • Experience with Human lymphocyte manipulation and functional study, receptor signaling studies, RNA seq analysis.
