Job Information

The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Postdoctoral Research Scientist in New York, New York

The Cruz-Acuna Lab focuses on integrating aspects of biomaterial engineering, cell and molecular biology, and 3D organoid biology to (1) understand the contributions of the extracellular matrix properties to metaplasia and tumorigenesis, and (2) identify mechanisms important for esophageal developmental patterning and organogenesis. We are currently recruiting a post-doctoral research scientist interested in understanding the cell-extracellular matrix interactions that drive esophageal intestinal metaplasia and its progression to cancer. Studies will include classic molecular and cell biology techniques, novel engineered hydrogels, patient-derived and hiPSC-derived 3D organoid in vitro platforms, and in vivo xenograft models. Successful completion of this proposal will be both scientifically and clinically significant by defining the contribution of matrix properties to mechanisms of metaplasia and laying a foundation for novel therapies to disrupt matrix properties in tumorigenesis.

The Cruz-Acuna Lab is committed to building a diverse and inclusive work environment that achieves the goals of creating a scientific workforce that reflects all perspectives and experiences.
