The New York Academy of Sciences Mentor Coordinators (NYC Civic Corps) in New York, New York

The Academy has partnered with NYC Civic Corps  and is currently recruiting for two positions to help support our NYC-based education programs.

The Mentor Coordinator for Afterschool Programs will support the expansion of the Academy’s Afterschool STEM Mentoring program in the five boroughs by supporting mentor recruitment, mentor management, and data review/reporting. The Mentor Coordinator will aid in identifying recruiting partners, streamlining mentor trainings, and building an ongoing mentor community. In addition, the Mentor Coordinator will be a consistent point of contact for the mentors and aid in developing systems to build a more robust, supportive community.  View the full position description here . 

The Mentor Coordinator for In-school Programs will provide leadership, direction, and organization for the mentors serving in the 2024-2025 academic year, ensuring the mentors and partner organizations have a successful experience.  This position will work to build capacity by supporting expansion of our in-school mentoring program, such as Scientist-in-Residence, as well as community programs such as Chat with a Scientist. The Mentor Coordinator will primarily focus on mentor recruitment and engagement, resource building, volunteer management, and creating systems to improve support to our volunteers.
