HAKS Mechanical Inspector in New York, New York

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Inspector to participate in MTA / NYCT security upgrade projects in the NYC metropolitan area. Ability to read and interpret plans. Ability to work nights and weekends if required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct field inspection of installed work.

  • Prepare detailed daily reports and document same via progress photos.

  • Ensure contractors has adequate manpower to meet project schedule.

  • Support the PM/RE with RFI’s and Authorized Work Order (AWO’s).

  • Maintain excellent relationships with clients, architects/engineers, and contractors.

  • Identify and resolve field related issues.

  • Ensure complete client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management is a plus.

  • Familiar with NYCT Project Management Procedure (PMP) and Project Management Guidelines (PMG)

  • 3- 5 years’ experience working on MTA / NYCT projects.

  • Must have elevator installation experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective leadership for mentoring on-site staff.

  • Broad knowledge and experience working with project costs and budgets.

  • Contractor relations and negotiation skills.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Ability to take charge and effectively manage multiple teams and projects.

  • Ability to accurately document field activities through reports and photos.

  • Ability to track on-going construction activities as well as schedule manpower and coordinate upcoming construction activities.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans/specifications.

  • Ensure the quality of contractor work in in accordance with contract documents.

  • 10 Hours OSHA training a must.

  • Fire alarm and elevator work experience is preferable.
