Meta Mechanical Engineering Manager in New York, New York

Summary:

The EMG HW Platform Team at Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager with a desire for working across the organization to develop technology and solve complex problems. Your job will be to manage a team of engineers incubating research into product level readiness and helping to ensure robust product integration. You will work cross-functionally with teams that include PM, NPI teams, ID, health, NTI, firmware, software, neuroscientists, ML/AI experts and other research experts. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, are able to drive a concept into a prototype and then mature the design to high-volume consumer product solutions. You will lead a group of experts in mechanical and EMG design. We seek a team leader that can build and manage teams that will deliver innovative products.

Required Skills:

Mechanical Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a team of Product Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and Lead Mechanical Engineering activities in a cross-functional hardware team.

  2. Provide team guidance, regular feedback, education, coaching and mentoring.

  3. Identify key roles required for team success and recruit top engineering talent.

  4. Create career development plans, manage performance, create performance reviews.

  5. Develop and execute research & NTI roadmap and strategy in close coordination with product, research, and XFN teams

  6. Design and define plans, methods, and protocol that deliver on technical roadmap strategy from feasibility to NTI

  7. Manage wide variety of stakeholders while leading process definition for your team.

  8. Help incubate new technologies into research prototypes.

  9. Perform architecture and design reviews to ensure hardware quality.

  10. Collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  2. 3+ years experience managing engineering teams through product development cycles.

  3. 8+ years experience in product design or mechanical system development.

  4. Experience working independently and managing priorities.

  5. Experience developing electro-mechanical systems.

  6. Mass production experience, working with both domestic and overseas manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in biosensing or equivalent analog electrical systems.

  2. Experience in technology incubation or in prototyping.

  3. Experience in clinical settings.

  4. Experience developing technology directly with researcher

  5. Experience with metrology equipment design.

  6. 10+ years experience managing design teams for high-volume consumer products.

  7. 15+ years experience in product design.

Public Compensation:

$170,000/year to $240,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
