Job Overview:

As the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the service delivery related to all aspects of the facilities including the mechanical, electrical and plumbing maintenance, soft service provision, health and safety and performance management of the 1211 Facilities Team and the service vendors for News Corp. The News Corp headquarters building comprises mainly office spaces of approximately 140,000 sqft over floors 8, 9, 10 and 19 at 1211 Avenue of the Americas, New York City.

You will ensure the physical office environment is managed and maintained to a high standard, guaranteeing hard services operate smoothly to support business operation whilst ensuring compliance with existing health and safety regulations and future requirements issued by authorities at State and Federal level.

As an experienced professional, you will be accountable for performance management and service improvement, implementing best practice principles. You will manage and oversee the day to day operational activity of the 1211 Facilities Team, coordinate service providers and oversee resources to respond to issues and maintain a well-functioning and safe workplace.

Responsibilities:

Facility Services and Maintenance:

  • Develop and implement planned preventive maintenance programs for all facilities and equipment.

  • Oversee routine maintenance activities to ensure the safety and functionality of facilities.

  • Coordinate repairs and renovations, addressing issues promptly ensuring timely completion and cost-effectiveness.

  • Liaise with external service providers and vendors for all facility-related services.

  • Develop and implement processes and procedures related to all service delivery needs.

  • Manage and communicate with all Landlord service providers and other Business Unit managers to ensure an integrated FM approach across the spaces.

  • Design and implement on site processes and procedures for all contractors undertaking service provision on behalf of NewsCorp to ensure compliance with best practice and code requirements for building access and on site behavior and protocols

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to health and safety in the workplace.

  • Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure work environment.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.

Emergency Response:

  • Review and update existing emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring they remain relevant and updated.

  • Coordinate with relevant authorities and teams to ensure a prompt and effective response to emergencies.

  • Act as the first point of contact for the 1211 Facilities Team, liaising with the Landlords Building Management representatives and building Security to respond to issues out-of-hours if required.

Environmental Sustainability:

  • Implement and promote environmentally sustainable practices within the facilities.

  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and waste reduction.

Budget Management:

  • Day to day management of operational budgets for 1211 Facilities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Keep an accurate record of all FM expenditures and update the monthly outlook for Finance.

  • Request and review quotes from vendors, create purchase orders and receive invoices for associated works.

  • Ensure vendor payments are managed on time and within budgets .

  • Ensure procurement activities are completed in compliance with organizational procedures.

Communication & Engagement:

  • Act as on-site contact for Business Unit Leads and key stakeholders for daily issues and tasks.

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and provide regular updates on behalf of the Senior FM Manager as their delegate.

Space Utilization:

  • Assist with the coordination of office moves and changes with existing team resources and third party vendors as required.

  • Coordinate minor building modification works as needed.

  • Ensure as-built floor plans are maintained and updated liaising with space planning resources as appropriate.

Team Management:

  • Day to day management of the 1211 Facilities Team.

  • Oversee daily operational activities and service delivery.

  • Ensure effective performance management and team planning in liaison with the Senior FM

  • Recommend appropriate training and guidance to ensure a high level of performance and efficiency.

  • Act as a coach to the team members on technical aspects of work and implement quality control procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in facilities management or a related role, ideally 5 plus years in a management capacity, with particular emphasis related to building maintenance services.

  • Up to date professional knowledge of mechanical and electrical, building systems, construction, and maintenance.

  • Proficient in word processing and data software packages (such as Excel/Word/Google Worksheets)

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Ability to foster and maintain effective partnership working with stakeholders.

  • Determined and solution oriented mindset to overcome issues.

  • Flexible and an ability to adapt within a dynamic environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of NYC building and safety codes.

  • Flexibility to respond to facility-related issues outside regular business hours.

  • Ability to read/translate architectural and engineering drawings.

  • Comprehensive knowledge on relevant laws and regulations related to facility management.

Job Category:

Pay Range: $90,000 - $110,000
