Today Project FIND operates three supportive housing residences that are home to about 600 people and four senior centers with over 3,000 members. Our members and residents range from the healthy and active to the frail and homebound to the homeless. For all these individuals, Project FIND is a critical resource, providing housing, meals, and programs that help individuals navigate the challenges of aging by encouraging community engagement and healthy living.Project FIND’s Older Adult Centers are dedicated site that provides a variety of meals, activities, and services to people over the age of 60. Job Summary:Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance, the Junior Handyperson is responsible for minor building and grounds repairs and preventive maintenance of Project FIND apartment buildings.General Responsibilities:• Assist with electrical repairs in community areas, including lights and laundry.• Ensure mechanical equipment is in working order and fixed as necessary.• Complete general building cleaning and maintenance.• Install and replace floors, stairs and piping as needed.• Repair and paint doors, windows, walls, ceilings, roofs and other parts of the building.• Maintain trash and recycling receptacles around the facility.• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the building. This includes sweeping, mopping floorsand stairs, dusting desks, tables, chairs and other furniture.• Strips, waxes, and buffs floors .• Removes garbage from trash cans and compactor and places out for pickup based uponsanitation schedule.• Maintains garbage rooms, trash cans and dumpsters and ensure they are in a clean, sanitarycondition.• Sweeps and cleans sidewalks and planters, hoses sidewalk with pressure washer.• During the winter removes snow and ice and spreads de-ice to prevent slipping.• Cleans rooms by discarding old furniture, beds and other debris.• Prepares rooms for painting, paints rooms and bathrooms• Helps to make rooms move-in ready.Qualifications:Basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical knowledge. The ideal candidate will be skilled in a widerange of areas, but will also be able to recognize when a repair is outside of their skill set andmake a recommendation to their supervisor.• High School Diploma or GED• Ability to safely use common power and hand tools• HVAC knowledge and repair skills• Experience installing and replacing plumbing systems• Strong communication skills with property management and tenants• Self-starter with good time management skills• Ability to sit, walk and stand for numerous hours• Ability to lift packages and other items up to 10 pounds.• Have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission ofProject FIND.• Establish and maintain polite, professional and effective working relationships with allcontacts during the performance of duties.• Completion of relevant training program• Good oral and written communication skills.• Be creative and flexible.• Show initiative and be responsible for follow through.Schedule:Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm.
