Job Purpose/Background:

The US Value and Income team is made up of 30 investment professionals responsible for managing US$65 billion across three main strategies: Equity Dividend, Core, and Focus Value. The strategies are primarily large-cap focused but increasingly include mid-cap investments. The team is based out of New York and Princeton.

The team is currently looking for a quantitative investment analyst to join its Quantitative Alpha Research Group (QARG). The analyst will focus on integrating quantitative research into the team’s fundamental active equity investment process. Successful candidates will provide R&D assistance to the team on various aspects of quant research and portfolio management processes.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Masters' degree or higher in a quantitative discipline, strong record of academic achievement

  • 5+ years experience in quant equity (buy or sell-side) preferred

  • Standout colleague, self starter, proactive

  • Original and independent thinker, able to work in a fast-paced team environment

  • Demonstrated passion for equity markets

  • Experience with independent quantitative research is preferred, especially hands-on experience with real-world data sets

Competencies:

  • Multidisciplinary generalist approach, able to draw upon various domains to solve complex investment problems

  • Able to explain complex technical concepts in plain language to nontechnical audiences

  • Strong understanding of statistics, econometrics

  • Proficiency in Python, R, or SAS

  • Able to work independently with excellent attention to detail

  • The ideal candidate can work closely with a small team as well as more broadly within an organization where information-sharing is essential to the success of all teams across asset classes

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $147,500 - $209,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
