Overview

Ensure the University is in compliance with federal and institutional policies governing federal financial aid. Consult with University offices (Admissions, Registrar, Bursar) and external agencies (lenders and guarantee agencies) to resolve related processing, certification, and payment issues. Advise students and parents on federal program processes and regulations, University policies and procedures, and assist in resolving problems. Provide complex and detailed financial aid information to students and parents in a manner that is easy to understand. Assist the federal programs and operations teams in managing federal aid programs and other duties as assigned.



Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:
3+ years of relevant professional level experience in a financial aid and student services environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and client service skills. Facility with figures and familiarity with automated student financial aid systems. Knowledge of needs' analysis and federal/state financial aid programs. Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, policies and procedures. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications. Use of Federal Student Aid (FSA) systems.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with PeopleSoft or other Student Information Systems.



Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $62,400.00 to USD $72,050.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
