Position Summary

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

The Executive Director of Development, Global Philanthropy will provide leadership and senior-level fundraising expertise across the global network and provide direction, mentoring, and professional support for the Global Fundraising team. Serve as the lead strategist and fundraiser for global development, and collaborate with UDAR leadership, Vice Provost for Global Programs, Deans, and the University President on global initiatives. Responsible for managing a portfolio of high-capacity international prospects, meeting progressively ambitious fundraising goals, and the global team’s overall fundraising outcomes. Extensive global travel is required, accompanied by a strong understanding of the NYU global network, cultural nuances in philanthropy, and an understanding of global markets and currencies, as they specifically relate to philanthropic giving. Collaborate with the Development Team for NYU-Shanghai and the Alumni Relations Team for Alumni Clubs for Asia.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's DegreeRequired Experience:7+ years relevant experience in fundraising, communications, fast-paced and high-level writing, events planning, donor relations or an equivalent combination of experience and educationPreferred Experience:10+ years prior experience fundraising in global markets and/or in higher education a plusRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organization and writing skills

Commitment to high performance and teamwork

Ability to lead a motivated team

Proven ability and desire to reach increasing goals

Familiarity with global markets, currency, culture, and trends pertaining to philanthropyPreferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Fluency, experience and/or understanding of multiple cultures, languages and customs, especially those of East Asia

Knowledge of fundraising laws and best practices in East Asia

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $180,000.00 to USD $220,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
