Manage team of Software Engineers in Data Engineering. Responsible for hiring team members and assessing their performance. Contribute to product development and project management processes with cross-functional partners. Contribute to the software development process and have an understanding of the full stack. Work with product owners, project managers and other partners to ensure team’s deliveries. Lead a team who is building essential systems and user-facing products that are core to the mission of the New York Times. Will manage 2 software engineers.SALARY:$184,000 to $189,000 per yearRequirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related field and 3 years of experience in the field. Must have experience in/with: participating in hiring panels for a large engineering organization; mentoring and coaching other Software Engineers; working with Agile planning methodologies; negotiating priorities with cross functional partners; designing and planning complex data-focused applications; building data-intensive, full-stack web applications in cloud-based environments; building APIs (RESTful and GraphQL); relational databases and standard SQL; Columnar Database including BigQuery; frontend languages including HTML, TypeScript, JavaScript or CSS; modern frontend frameworks including React; backend application languages including Go, Python or Java; and Data Modeling in Data Build Tool (dbt). Role holder is eligible to work remotely on a hybrid basis with manager approval and must reside with commuting distance from the worksite. Salary range: $184,000 to $189,000 per year.
