Overview

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

The Director of Development Communications at University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) oversees NYU’s fundraising and stewardship marketing and communications efforts. Spearhead the creation of compelling narratives and strategic messages to drive philanthropic support. Create and implement targeted communication that promote engagement and philanthropy among various stakeholders, including alumni, donors, parents, and the broader University community. Collaborate with units within UDAR and across the University, schools, and administrative units. Partner with Communication leadership to lead development communication efforts, showcasing NYU’s commitment to philanthropy, inclusivity, and academic excellence.

Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations and/or Communications or related field preferred

Required Experience:
7+ years relevant experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or comparable field

Experience with editorial and print production, digital media strategy, and project management or a combination of education and experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

Ability to write and edit publication material, build targeted marketing plans, effectively utilize data, tell compelling stories, and develop strategic plans for a sophisticated, global audience

Deep experience with desktop publishing software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva)

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with or knowledge about donor relations, stewardship, fundraising. Excel at CRMs and B2B marketing



Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $120,000.00 to USD $160,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
