We are currently hiring Direct Care Workers to provide coverage support in our OPWDD-funded IRA Residential Programs. Relief DCWs must have on-call availability on weekends, evenings, and overnights and ability to work in both Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. Pays $15.00-$16.00 per hour

Responsibilities consist of but not limited to:

  • Performs, supervise and assists individuals in all areas of adult daily living skills

  • Assist individuals in any and all activities which are designed to foster independence, personal growth and

  • individualization

  • Implement valued outcomes and all other programming methods/procedure based on the individuals rehabilitation and protective oversight plan and other QMRP documentations

  • Ensures the overall health and safety of the individuals by providing supervision to the

  • individuals as required based on the individual needs and per OPWDD regulations

  • All staff is required to remain awake on the overnight shift

  • Provides ongoing care for the residents in a safe, kind and considerable manner

  • Accompanies and transports individuals to medical and other clinical appointments and ensure the necessary documentation are completed and return to review by the program registered nurse

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary residence and working environment

  • Responsible for conducting fire drills as scheduled

  • Responsible for maintaining the individuals clothing, furniture, any and all personal belonging in good condition

  • Responsible and required to remain on the shift until the relief arrives and the shift is appropriately covered Reports to work on time

  • Required to attend all trainings and meetings as mandated by the management team or the agency

  • Remains sensitive and responsive to the needs, situation, and personal/cultural practices of the individuals

  • Make purchases as needed or requested by the program or management team

  • Reports any changes regarding any individuals physical and health condition to the supervisor immediately

  • Assists in the orientation of new staff

  • Safely Operate agencies vehicle for residential appointments or any other individual needs which may require the utilization of the agency vehicle

  • Reads, initial and enter required information on the communication log as well as other documentations as required

Education/ License:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • SCIP, AMAP, First Aid and CPR preferred

  • Valid NYS driver's license preferred

  • Dept. of Justice clearance required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with OPWDD individuals or other human service field

  • Strong leadership, excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work on a strong team of professionals in a culturally diverse environment

  • Ability to multitask and to work and function under pressure

  • Bilingual Spanish Required
