About the role

We’re looking for an engineering leader to define and implement the tech platform that accelerates application engineers' productivity and operational excellence. As the Engineering Manager for Wonder's DevOps team, you will design and implement tooling and automation that supports every area of our business, from the production of tens of thousands of meals daily, through to delivery to our customers. Ensuring correctness and operational excellence while taking calculated risks is the tightrope we need you to walk to ensure Wonder continues providing top-quality meals, while constantly iterating and improving your systems. You will be a manager and mentor to your team, as well as an advisor to your peers, leading by example in system design, operations, implementation, code quality, testing and deployment.   • Managing a team of senior DevOps engineers.

  • Owning and improving a large body of work, whether through large scale deployments or breadth of services.

  • Working within ambiguity by collecting data to make informed decisions.

  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language. Most DevOps tooling is in Go. Application engineers mostly use Kotlin running on the JVM; while experience in Kotlin is not expected, familiarity with the JVM is a plus.

  • Making informed technical decisions through collaboration with peers.

  • Designing, developing and maintaining a platform to support distributed systems comprised of both synchronous and asynchronous services, and databases with varied consistency guarantees.

  • Proficiency using and supporting relational and document databases. We use MySQL, Postgres, Cosmos DB and Mongo DB.

  • Leading and mentoring junior and senior engineers.

  • Working with public cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, GCP. We use Azure for nearly everything, and GCP for our data and ML pipelines. Experience in Azure would be a bonus, but not expected.

  • Developing in, and building and deploying containers to production.

  • A modern orchestration and scheduling system such as Kubernetes.

The experience you have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer.

  • 3+ years managing other engineers.

  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams.

  • Proficiency in at-least one modern programming language

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Project management experience is a plus.

Base Salary Range: $236,250
