Point72, L.P. has an opening for a Data Scientist in New York, New York. This is a hybrid position; may work at home up to one day per week.Perform data collection, modeling, analysis and performance monitoring. Conduct research of potential “alpha signals”, the net forward-looking estimate of an asset’s future potential relative to other securities, and deliver research findings to investment teams, portfolio managers and other internal clients. Monitor and enhance the processes and infrastructure governing data mining and statistical modeling to discover insights from data that are used by investment professionals to make investment decisions. Conduct financial research and analysis on new technologies for improved data management and efficient retrieval. Must possess at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or related quantitative field and at least 1 years of experience as a Data Scientist at a financial services institution. Must also possess the following: At least 1 year of industry experience working with large data sets, including classification, regression, and distribution analysis; at least 1 year of industry experience applying statistical tests to large data sets; at least 1 year of industry experience programming in one of the following: SQL, TSQL, SQL Server, or PL-SQL; at least 1 year of experience with machine learning modeling for financial fraud/risk detection; and demonstrable experience programming in Python and R.
