DAS Field Engineer

Boingo Wireless is looking for a highly energetic and customer-focused person with comprehensive knowledge of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Small Cell networks to join our Operations Team. This role will improve and maintain system performance in existing large-scale venues in the New York area. This person will get to work with the latest technology at Marquis venues. We have a close-knit team that works together to tackle technically challenging projects. The typical starting base pay for this position is $104,000 to $130,000 per year, plus a 5% bonus potential.

Responsibilities

  • Benchmark testing and RF site surveys to evaluate the location and performance of venues to include as-builts for newly installed systems.
  • Collect data for post deployment acceptance testing to ensure requirements are met and the system integrates with the carrier macro network.
  • Perform, or oversee, system testing to include RF sweep and Fiber testing; PIM, and carrier handset testing and optimization.
  • Installs, maintains, tests, repairs, removes or retrofits various systems and configurations.
  • Performs additions and modifications on working equipment and circuits.
  • Able to work with hand and power tools, as well as working knowledge of PPC compression tools, Cat 5 / 6 terminations, and various RF test equipment.
  • LAN Layer 1 and Layer 2 basic troubleshooting abilities with basic Cisco CLI
  • Able to read and understand RF drawings from companies such as IBwave or Ekahau and blueprint construction documentation.
  • Able to work independently while maintaining robust communication with management regarding activities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of RF Field technician experience as well as 1-3 years of wireless telecommunications, UMTS, LTE, and Wi-Fi System architecture
  • Able to work outdoors on ladders, and in confined spaces around electrical wires and ESD products
  • Able to work remotely at construction or installation sites
  • Knowledge and experience with DAS vendors, e.g. CommScope, TE Connectivity, Corning Mobile Access, & SOLiD
  • Travel & Shift Requirements: Travel away from home for several weeks may be required on demand. Shift work required on demand.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • A formal "Basic Installation" training course (or equivalent on the job training)
  • High School Diploma or GED
