Gannett Fleming Construction Cost Engineer in New York, New York

What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming is actively seeking a skilled Construction Cost Engineer to join our dynamic team in New York, NY. This role is pivotal for ensuring the seamless execution and financial integrity of construction projects within our portfolio.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Overseeing financial management of contractor payment applications
  • Reviewing contractor detailed estimate breakdowns of lump sum costs
  • Monitoring construction budget versus actual expenditures and earned value analysis
  • Overseeing change order management throughout the construction lifecycle on multiple projects, ensuring changes are accurately assessed and integrated.
  • Evaluating construction change proposals from contractors, including both the direct and indirect costs involved.
  • Collaborating closely with the project's contract administrator, scheduler, and the construction management team to review, challenge, and finalize the financial aspects of contract modifications.
  • Demonstrating expertise in related estimating software.
  • Developing various financial estimates including conceptual estimates, budgetary figures, change order valuations, and verification estimates in relation to proposed change orders
  • Leveraging both Gannett Fleming's and industry-wide historical data to inform accurate cost estimations.
  • Critically assessing third-party estimates to ensure their adequacy and reliability.
  • Meeting with contractors and clients to negotiate change orders
Education | Experience:

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in change order management and estimating, preferably with a construction management firm.
  • Experience in estimating for civil, mechanical or electrical projects, particularly in the public sector. NYCDEP or other NYC public agency experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Project, is essential.
  • Proficiency or knowledge of eBuilder PMIS is beneficial
  • Prior involvement in large-scale wastewater, civil or facilities projects.
  • Candidates must be able to travel to jobsites in the New York metro area.
