Guardian Life Business Intelligence Lead, Internal Audit in New York, New York

As a member of the Internal Audit Department’s (IAD’s) Data Analytics, AI, Automation and Continuous Auditing (DAACA) team, you will apply rigorous, data-driven insights and methodologies to drive the maturity and enhancement of the DAACA program and transforming IAD into a more data-driven function.

This is a highly visible role as you work with various levels of personnel within IAD and the business and functional areas to perform high quality, value-add, DAACA projects in support of IAD. This includes providing assistance on assurance and advisory projects as well as supporting Internal Audit Operations’ initiatives and tasks. You will provide effective data analysis and automation services; thereby, having the opportunity to influence audit teams and business/functional areas towards data-informed decision-making and analytical thinking.

You will

  • Under the direction of a Lead Team Member of our DAACA Program, manage and execute our DAACA program. Identify, design, implement, and maintain the data analytics routines needed to support audit activities performed including both audit execution, continuous auditing, and department level audit operations and reporting.

  • Develop and maintain a successful system of data analytics which will provide enhanced understanding into risks and controls and establish an efficient/automated means to analyze and increase testing volumes of data for outliers, anomalies, patterns, and trends to evaluate the design and effectiveness of controls.

  • Establish automation and develop continuous auditing dashboards.

  • Produce regularly scheduled or ad-hoc reports to communicate the progress and assess the effectiveness of the DAACA program.

  • Assist with quarterly Board reporting as required.

  • Represent the Department, as directed, on committees and/or special project teams, as necessary.Support talent upskilling efforts within the Department to enable team members to develop/mature data analytics competencies.

  • Mature the use of data analytics within the Department to drive data strategy and efficiency. Implement and manage the infrastructure required to support data extraction, storage, transformation, and processing through data analytics techniques and generating output for visualization/analysis by IAD.

  • Automate audit testing and develop techniques for continuous auditing and the ability to analyze large volumes of data.

  • Define conditions necessary for automation and continuous auditing, selecting appropriate areas to assess and monitor, and implementing automation and continuous auditing capabilities

You are

An individual who is a self-starter, fueled by collaboration, and able to transform conceptual thinking into executable insights while partnering with audit teams and business/functional area management.

You have

  • 5+ years of relevant audit work experience, with at least two years of data analysis and/or statistical modeling analysis. Knowledge of internal and/or external auditing standards is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields of study - Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or another related field is preferred. Professional certifications attained or in progress related to auditing, risk management, and/or data science are desirable.

  • Proficient understanding and application of data analysis used in either financial services, Information Technology, audit, and/or risk management functions.

  • Demonstrated quantitative, analytical, data-intuition, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in data analytics and automation techniques.

  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in extraction and exploratory analysis of data from a wide variety of data sources, leveraging data analysis and data visualization tools and techniques (e.g., Power Query, Power Automate, Microsoft Suite, SQL, Python, Business Intelligence, Tableau, TeamMate Analytics, etc.).

  • Experience with utilizing data over annual audit planning, risk assessments and continuous auditing is preferred.

Location /Travel

  • Hybrid role – In office 2 days a week, WFH – 3 days a week. Preferred locations are located at Guardian Offices in Hudson Yards, NYC; Bethlehem, PA; or Holmdel, NJ.

Salary Range

$114,080.00 - $187,415.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
