The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine (Physical Therap in New York, New York

The Programs in Physical Therapy at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time (12-month) faculty position. The successful candidate will primarily teach in the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation courses addressing evidence-based physical therapy management of individuals with pathophysiological changes of the cardiovascular system. Responsibilities of core faculty include teaching, scholarship, service, and student advisement. Opportunities exist for clinical teaching or practice at the Columbia University Physical Therapy Faculty Practices (Columbia Doctors) and/or New York Presbyterian (CUIMC).

The candidate will join a team of 17 core faculty, 8 clinical faculty, and numerous adjunct faculty from New York Presbyterian (CUIMC) and the surrounding tri-state area who are experts in their fields and committed to excellence. We seek a candidate who will pursue excellence in physical therapy through intellectual curiosity, evidence-based teaching, and scholarly inquiry. Prospective candidates must communicate effectively, adhere to the highest ethical standards, and lead students towards their own accomplishments.


The ideal candidate has:

  • A terminal academic doctorate degree (PhD, EdD, DSc or equivalent)
  • A minimum of five years clinical experience with individuals with cardiopulmonary disorders
  • Board certification as a Cardiovascular and Pulmonary clinical specialist (CCS)
  • Teaching and mentoring experience
  • A scholarly record

A candidate with a clinical doctorate and CCS certification or who has extensive clinical experience with the cardiopulmonary population and is currently pursuing a terminal academic doctoral degree may be considered.

Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice physical therapy in New York.
