The Department of Systems Biology at Columbia University in New York City invites outstanding candidates to apply for a non-tenure faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the field of functional genomics, with special focus on CRISPR screens, including technologies for screening and high-content readout in single cells, especially via spatial transcriptomic technologies. The Department seeks individuals with exceptional accomplishments and significant prior expertise in functional genomics screening with CRISPR and single-cell genomic technology. The candidate will work in a new core facility that will provide state-of-the-art CRISPR screening and new single-cell, spatial profiling technologies to Columbia laboratories. The new core will reside in the Sulzberger Columbia Genome Center, reporting to Dr. Peter Sims, where he will work collaboratively with both experimental and computational researchers in the Center and have access to its capital equipment resources.

We seek faculty members with a strong commitment to research, mentoring, and teaching, fostering a climate that embraces both excellence and diversity. The successful candidate will direct a team of dedicated scientists in the newly formed CRISPR Core, which provides critical services to Columbia University investigators.


Applicants must have a Ph.D. in discipline related to genomics screening and proven, specific expertise in CRISPR and single-cell genomic technologies.

Preferred qualifications include expertise in the design of CRISPR libraries, experience with both gene-level and base editing screens, and expertise with automation of genomic experiments.
