BlackRock's Retirement Insurance Group (RI ), a division of BlackRock’s Retirement Group (RG), develops and maintains relationships with insurance companies offering Variable Annuity, Fixed Index Annuity, Registered Index Linked Annuities, Life Insurance, as well as ETF and mutual fund products.

Professionals within the team work together to deliver a full range of asset management, risk management and advisory services relevant to clients’ investment needs. Unified under one global client platform, individual client businesses are accountable for client relationships and distribution of products and services and are supported by a centralized marketing function which ensures consistency globally. Sales Enablement Associate/Analyst Role Description: The Retirement Insurance Sales Enablement role will work with the RI business’s focus clients and partner with RI business leadership and Market Leader team to effectively execute on the external sales strategy and business plan to assist the team’s efforts in driving new business initiatives and servicing existing BlackRock products placed on our clients’ distribution platforms.

The individual will be responsible for working with internal and external partners to drive sales enablement that will ensure the team is maintaining a high level of client connectivity. Working closely with RI’s National Sales Manager and Market Leaders, the role would offer an opportunity to grow relationships with the largest insurance and retail institutions, supporting a broad set of BlackRock investment products. The role requires a high-level knowledge of markets, investments and the ability to craft sales messages around investment solutions and current economic and market conditions. The candidate would be expected to develop an in-depth understanding of sales enablement systems and business reporting analytics, annuity contracts and how annuities are positioned in the markets, as well as objective based investing and the impact to client portfolios.

Primary Responsibilities:

Sales Enablement:

  • Develop strong internal relationships with digital wealth, technology, compliance, marketing and product teams to enhance the quality of the delivery of BlackRock services to insurance distribution platforms

  • Efficiently navigate sales enablement systems like: Microsoft Dynamics, Eloqua, TeamWorld, etc. to record and report sales and enablement data

  • Coordinate with compliance, marketing and investments on sales collateral creation and approval; with an aim towards scalability

  • Understand and drive results towards mutually understood sales and activity goals of the RI Field Team

  • Exhibit in-depth knowledge on funds, indexes and model portfolios relevant to the respective opportunity and platform in order to position and differentiate BlackRock and our products against competitor firms and their products

  • Work in collaboration with National Sales Manager on the preparation of quarterly client relationship/partnership reviews and overall field business strategy

  • Collaborate with RI management on the development and execution of Index Annuity strategy

Business Development:

  • Work with National Sales Manager, Relationship Managers and Market Leaders to execute on strategy to maximize engagement and influence with financial advisors, as well as, field relationship managers to strengthen and grow relationships with leading insurance company clients

  • Leverage firm resources to provide sales team with timely marketing ideas, investment insights, sales ideas

  • Manage ad hoc queries from clients and follow-through on issues with relevant internal teams

  • As this individual develops their skill-set and knowledge of the business, we would like the individual to take on more client-facing responsibilities. Some examples below:

  • Develop and deliver nationwide fund updates, fund positioning, economic and capital markets overviews, and assorted business building and practice management presentations to sales desks, wholesalers, and/or financial advisors

  • Coordinate larger client events for external sales team partners

  • Meet with and develop relationships with internal sales desk leadership and represent BlackRock at internal sales desk meetings

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required, emphasis on Finance, Economics, or Engineering preferred.

  • NASD Series 7 and 66 (or 63 & 65) required or required to obtain within 90 days.

  • Independent thinker with proven ability to tackle complex problems, think creatively and challenge the status quo.

  • Knowledge of investment trends and advisor practices.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with impeccable attention to detail.

  • Solid MS Office skills, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience with web-based technology.

  • Clean U-4, if applicable.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $85,500 - $105,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
